Dr. Joanna Burdette

Dr. Joanna Burdette is the Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Programs in College Leadership, Professor of Medicinal Chemistry and Pharmacognosy, and Center Affiliate at the Center for Biomolecular Sciences. Her laboratory focuses on biological questions that are important for women’s health.  She does this by integrating imaging, drug discovery, microfluidics, and basic biology to understand how and where ovarian cancers originate.  Her research primarily uses mouse models and organs on a chip to understand early events in ovarian cancers.  Dr. Burdette also explores the potential of natural products for new anti-cancer molecules and their mechanism of action.
