Dr. Frank Chaloupka is a research professor in the Division of Health Policy and Administration of the University of Illinois at Chicago School of Public Health. As an economist internationally recognized for his study of the economics of tobacco control, he directs IHRP’s Health Policy Center. Dr. Chaloupka is also a research associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research’s Health Economics Program and Program on Children. His research focuses on decision-making biases in using combustible tobacco vs. electronic nicotine delivery systems (ENDS) among youth, and explores how marketing influence exacerbates decision-making errors. As part of the Tobacco Center of Regulatory Science (TCORS) funded research, Dr. Chaloupka led a team of experts to produce new evidence to inform the FDA’s RIAs through a combination of behavioral economics experiments and statistical analyses using survey data.

His research utilizes behavioral economics and statistical anlayses to find influences behind tobacco use and ways of prevention.
