I am fellowship trained as a Head and Neck Surgical Oncology and Microvascular Reconstructive surgeon. My research interests are primarily focused on understanding cancer-related sarcopenia, the role of immunonutrition, and improving functional outcomes for surgically treated head and neck cancer patients. The goal of the Head and Neck surgery team has been to develop an evidence-based ERAS (Enhanced Recovery After Surgery) model for head and neck cancer patients undergoing major surgery. I am currently the PI of a prospective randomized clinical study at two sites investigating sarcopenia, the role of immunonutrition, as well as gene expression of sarcopenia-related markers.
