Victor Gordeuk, MD, is a Professor of Hematology and Oncology at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at UIC and cares for patients at UI Health. He is also Director of the UIC Sickle Cell Center. He has extensive experience participating in and leading multicenter clinical, translational and genetic research projects in sickle cell disease, including cancer risk in patients, and other hematologic conditions. He has been a leader in the team that described congenital polycythemia due to a homozygous mutation in the Von Hippel-Lindau (VHL) gene that is responsible for the VHL tumor predisposition syndrome.
