Sandeep Jain, MD, is Professor of Ophthalmology in the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at UIC, Director of the Dry Eye and Ocular GVHD Clinic at UI Health, a National Institutes of Health-funded clinician scientist and Board certified in Ophthalmology. He has made innovative clinical and basic research discoveries and successfully translated them into therapeutic and diagnostic strategies. His academic entrepreneurship program comprises four components: a highly specialized clinical practice focused on providing care to patients with severe ocular surface diseases; an advanced translational molecular biology laboratory at UIC for uncovering disease mechanisms; a UIC-spinout entity (Selagine Inc.) for commercializing discoveries; and a highly motivated team who seamlessly connect these components.
