Robert Sargis, MD, PhD, is Associate Professor in the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC). His laboratory focuses on the role of environmental toxicants acting as endocrine-disrupting chemicals (EDCs) on the development of metabolic dysfunction that underlies obesity, diabetes, lipid disorders, and neurocognitive dysfunction among others. Because hormones play a critical role in cancer biology, our interests in EDCs and other disruptions in hormonal signaling intersect with cancer. In his clinical practice at UI Health, he focuses on the care of patients with diabetes and lipid disorders, and those experiencing hormonal abnormalities stemming from anti-cancer treatments.
