Richard Minshall, PhD, is Professor in the Departments of Anesthesiology and Pharmacology and Regenerative Medicine at UIC. The Minshall lab is focused on understanding how structural and scaffolding functions of caveolin-1 regulate formation and trafficking dynamics of caveolae, cell communication, adhesion, transmigration, proliferation and differentiation during inflammatory injury and repair/remodeling. The lab is interrogating pathophysiological mechanisms that lead to increased permeability, thrombosis, and remodeling of the microvasculature relevant to cancer cell survival, growth, and metastasis. It is also developing treatment strategies that target these pathological mechanisms in endothelial cells, fibroblasts and cancer cells.
