Judith M. Schlaeger, PhD, CNM, LAc, FACNM, FAAN, is a Professor in the Department of Human Development Nursing Science in the UIC College of Nursing, whose work focuses on the development of translational treatments for chronic pain and chronic disease symptoms. She has an extensive background as a practicing licensed acupuncturist and Chinese herbalist, which is where she developed her interest in researching pain. As an acupuncture interventionalist and methodologist, she focuses on treating pain and symptoms of survivors of breast cancer, vulvodynia, angina, chronic sickle cell disease pain, and chronic musculoskeletal pain.
