Joel Schwartz, DMD, DMSc, is Professor in the Department of Oral Medicine and Diagnostic Sciences at the UIC College of Dentistry. He develops various oral cancer models to understand and quantify the earliest genetic and molecular events that change a normal cell to a cancer cell following exposure to a virus or chemical carcinogen.
