Jeremy Johnson, PharmD, PhD, is Professor and Associate Head for Research in the Department of Pharmacy Practice at the Retzky College of Pharmacy at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC), as well as the Technology Lead of Pharmacokinetics at UICentre, the campuswide drug discovery enterprise at UIC. His lab focuses on a combination of preclinical and clinical research, where they actively isolate phytochemicals from plants and evaluate activity in cell-free and cell-based models, along with models to evaluate the pharmacokinetics and efficacy of investigational agents. Since 2007, his research has been continuously funded with support from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), the American Cancer Society and other nonprofit organizations. He was also awarded a Method to Extend Research in Time (MERIT) award from the National Cancer Institute (NCI) for his work on the mangosteen fruit and cancer.
