Ian Papautsky, PhD, is Richard and Loan Hill Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering in the Colleges of Engineering and Medicine at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC). His research is focused on innovating microfluidic and sensing technologies for hematology, oncology and precision medicine. His lab has pioneered the inertial microfluidics technology for label-free isolation and analysis of rare cells, such as circulating tumor cells (CTCs), or cellular sub-populations, such as white blood cells. This microfluidics approach shows tremendous potential for high-throughput cell sorting in hematology and liquid biopsy applications. He is also Co-Director of the National Science Foundation Industry–University Cooperative Research Centers (IUCRC) Center for Advanced Design and Manufacturing of Integrated Microfluidics (CADMIM).
