I am interested in studying the incidence of cancer in adults with sickle cell disease (SCD) in the setting of increasing longevity of individuals with SCD. Recently, improved specialized care, routine follow-up, novel pharmacological agents, curative stem cell transplant, have resulted in a rise in life expectancy for individuals with SCD. I am also interested in the biological mechanisms of cancer that is particular to SCD patients.
