Ece Mutlu, MD, MBA, is Professor and Head of the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at UIC. A board-certified gastroenterologist who practices at UI Health, she is nationally and internationally known for her patient-oriented research studying nutrition and the intestinal microbiome. Her lab conducts research on the microbiome and its influence on cancer. That work includes studying how diet, environmental factors and steroid hormones are linked to the microbiome in colon cancer and breast cancer.
