Abigail Silva, PhD, MPH, is the Associate Director of Community Outreach and Engagement at the University of Illinois Cancer Center and a Research Associate Professor in the Department of Medicine at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at UIC. With deep experience in cancer epidemiology, health disparities research, and community partnerships, her research career has centered on identifying and addressing the causes of health disparities in cancer care and chronic disease outcomes, while building opportunities to broaden healthcare access. In her Cancer Center role, she translates that evidence base into meaningful community action and ensures that cancer research at UIC reflects and responds to the needs of communities served by the Cancer Center. The Cancer Center is part of UIC’s academic health enterprise, UI Health.
