Dr. Abdeljabar El Andaloussi

Dr. Abdeljabar El Andaloussi is a Research Assitant Prfoessor of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He focuses his research on the use of immunotherapy in the fight against cancer. Although his scientific background is in the field of T cell development, in response to different malignancies, recent advances in the field of MDSCs as the crucial source of anti-tumor immune responses caught his interest. Dr. Andaloussi strongly believes that failure of early adaptive immune responses in malignant transformation is mediated by MDSCs and thus his team has been evaluating their role in varies malignancies. Their research was the first to describe the infiltration of glioma tumors by the regulatory T cells causing immune-suppression and escape from anti-tumor immune responses. He has developed a number of experimental mouse models to investigate the immunotherapeutic approaches for the treatment of blood and solid tumors that still lacks effective therapeutics (From bench to bed). Their primary approach aims to reduce the immunosuppression caused by regulatory T cells and MDSCs/tumor associated macrophages (TAM) infiltrating the primary tumor and secondary organs where metastasis occurs.
