Mid-Career “Bridge to Breathe” Research Award

- Application Deadline: 05/12/25
- Purpose: The Mid-Career “Bridge to Breathe” Research Award program provides two-year grants totaling $75,000 per year (including a maximum of 10% in indirect costs) to mid-career physician-scientists with a successful track record (as evidenced by publications and previous grant funding) who are seeking bridge funding to sustain their research program while resubmitting a grant application for major federal funding or its equivalent. The applicant must demonstrate proof of a prior grant application (NIH R01 or equivalent) within the past six months that was not funded and should not hold any concurrent multi-year sources of support (NIH, DOD, ACS, institutional startup or retention packages). Letters of intent must include a letter of nomination from the applicant’s institution.

- Purpose: The LUNGevity Career Development Award provides three-year mentored grants totaling $100,000 per year (including up to 10% for indirect costs) to support biomarker-directed translational research in early detection or treatment in a career development context. The Principal Investigator must hold a doctoral degree and be within the first five (5) years of his/her first faculty appointment with any academic institution (including research institutions that are not formally associated with a university) and have completed a training fellowship.
Health Equity and Inclusiveness Research Fellow Award

- Purpose: LUNGevity’s Health Equity and Inclusiveness Research Fellow Awards for Translational Research program provides two-year, $100,000 mentored awards to support fellows interested in lung cancer research and who belong to underrepresented groups in STEM (African American or Black; Hispanic or Latino; American Indian or Alaska Native; Native Hawaiian or Other Pacific Islander). Funds may be applied to direct costs only, which may include the applicant’s salary and fringe benefits, as well as supplies.

As a Cancer Center member, please notify and work with Jane Erb ([email protected]) and her Advancement team if you have an interest in any of the following current opportunities or would like further information. The Advancement team will provide grant development support and handle submissions as awards count toward the Cancer Center’s philanthropic goals.
