University of Illinois Cancer Center member Shikha Jain, MD, FACP, will co-host Healio’s inaugural hematology/oncology Disruptive Innovators Award Reception to be held on Saturday, June 4 during the American Society of Clinical Oncology Annual Meeting. The event will take place from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency McCormick Place, 2233 S. Martin Luther King Dr., Chicago.
The University of Illinois Cancer Center is a sponsor of the event and will be presenting the Health Equity Award in partnership with Healio.
The event will “celebrate the movers, shakers and industry-name-makers in hematology/oncology,” according to Healio, a full-spectrum education and news community for health care specialists. “Each of the awardees has changed the face of hematology/oncology and pushed the status quo toward the betterment of the field.” Jain, assistant professor of internal medicine at the University of Illinois College of Medicine, director of Communications Strategies in Medicine and the associate director of Oncology Communication and Digital Innovation for the University of Illinois Cancer Center, will be joined by Edward S. Kim, MD, MBA, FACP, FASCO, physician-in-chief for City of Hope Orange County (Calif.) and senior vice president and vice physician-in-chief for City of Hope National Medical Center.
“I am proud to be hosting this event along with Dr. Kim that recognizes those who have revolutionized aspects of hematology/oncology,” Jain said. “The honorees are paving the way for the innovative future of the field.”
Healio/HemOnc Today will honor Disruptive Innovators in eight different categories: Clinical Innovation; Next Gen Disruptor; Lifetime Disruptor; Woman Disruptor of the Year (awarded in partnership with City of Hope); Healio Social Media Influencer (awarded in partnership with Women in Medicine, an organization founded by Jain); The Patient Voice; Health Equity Award (awarded in partnership with the University of Illinois Cancer Center); and Industry Breakthrough.
