Gadi to Headline Life Sciences Conference

University of Illinois Cancer Center Deputy Director VK Gadi, MD, PhD, is the keynote speaker at a life sciences conference later this month in Charleston, South Carolina.

Gadi will headline SCbio 2023, “Tomorrow Starts Here,” which highlights the growth of life sciences in South Carolina. The conference, to be held February 21-23, will feature an additional 40 speakers.

In his keynote address, “Carpe Futurum: Achieving Breakthroughs that Work for All,” Gadi will emphasize how advances in science and medicine must result in the development of  diagnostics and drugs that work and deliver outcomes for all people and not just a select few.

Organizers are expecting 500 registrants and attendees will include officials involved in medical devices, bio manufacturing, drug discovery, research and development, pharmaceuticals, diagnostics and testing, digital health and health information technology and more.

Gadi, whose laboratory and clinical cancer research has focused primarily on breast cancer, joined the Cancer Center in March 2020 as Associate Director of Translational Medicine when he came to the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) after 20 years in Seattle at the University of Washington, where he did his postgraduate training, and the Fred Hutch Cancer Center.
