Over the last 15 years, the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) Department of Pediatrics has received more than $2.1 million from the St. Baldrick’s Foundation to help support pediatric clinical studies. The UIC Children’s Oncology Group (COG) Program, a tri-institutional consortium partnering UIC, Rush University Medical Center and John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County and managed by the University of Illinois Cancer Center’s Clinical Trials Office, can enroll patients in clinical studies. These studies include treatment for many types of childhood cancers, studies to determine the underlying biology of these diseases, and trials on new and emerging treatments, supportive care and survivorship.
