The Jeffery Lab studies the connections between protein sequences, structures, and functions. We use a combination of biochemical and biophysical methods, computer-based bioinformatics, and X-ray crystal structural analysis. Current research includes the effects of cancer and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) associated mutations on protein structure and function. The lab also studies the structures and functions of moonlighting proteins and pseudoenzymes and their roles in metabolism, signaling pathways, interactions with extracellular matrix, and invasion and metastasis.
