Gastrointentinal Oncology is the study and treatment of cancers of the GI system, including the esophagus, stomach, pancreas, liver and colon. We work closely with our Familial Gastrointestinal Cancer Unit, which identifies patients that have an elevated risk for developing GI cancers and navigates prophylactic screening measures and counseling as needed.
It is important to note that Clinical Trials have specific eligibility requirements, often pertinent to age, gender, diagnosis, staging and area of metastasis. This is to help determine the efficacy of a drug and any potential adverse reactions or toxicities. If you are interested in participating in a clinical trial, please contact your oncologist or the Clinical Trials Office at 312-996-9272.
